My favorite for a 17.6 with a 150 E-Tec is the no longer available the stainless steel 3 blade 15 by 16.

On the 20' Open Bows with big block Evinrude E-Tec motors we tend to put 4 blade 17 pitch stainless props on.

Overall, I am very happy with Merc's new Four Stroke. It looks much larger than an Optimax but only weighs 26 lbs more.

Just back from three great days of waterskiing in Northern WI. The Dyne ran great, and the weather was perfect.

One of the things that has always troubled me is the difficulty I have in getting the boat to move very slowly in the water while manuevering to pick up a ski or get a rope to a skiier. I notice at the ski shows, obviously, skiers are landed fast, and they must avoid the dock, shore, other skiers, etc. This is the way we were landed when I was young. Re-using old gauges, but would like the opportunity to go to I-command without a crapload of extra holes. Also, trying to keep the number of holes to a minimum for structural integrity.

I've seen videos of what your tripple rig boats can do. Amazing.

But I've only seen them pull from the dock.

How many skiers have you pulled or seen pulled from the deep with one of these boats? Do you have a problem with them squashing in and taking each other out? What do you do to prevent that? Is that why dock starts are the done thing? Does doing a dock start make that much difference to the problem of compressing in?

In answer to your question in the other thread, I have seen folks have someone in the stern when pulling the trailer out to hold the guides and center the boat as the trailer picks it up. If I have help I sometimes walk along next to the trailer and hold the boat centered.

If I am in the boat I can hold onto those side guides and sort of center it. If I am alone I pull the trailer up just a little and center the boat on the bunks with just a little pressure on the bunks to keep it...
