I would not discount the big block motors either. We're running 3 of the 3.3 Liter E-Tecs and with the new DFI technology the motors really hold speed and respond well. They are 100 lbs heavier than the small blocks, but they are way stronger on the low end. We have a 200 HO for sale if you are looking once you get your boat. The 200 small block E-tec is very new, no one that I know has had a chance to run one. I think it might be the perfect motor for show ski triple rigs since it is the same dimension and weight as the 150's. I'll gladly take you out in our 20' single with the 200, the new E-Tecs are amazingly quiet and fuel efficient. We run a 16 pitch Evinrude/OMC SST prop with virtually no cup. Great prop for dynes. The biggest thing which I know Jim can attest to is propping and controls. We have actually set up single engine boats with the Livorsi dual lever controls because the shift throw is so much longer thus allowing for more precise speed holding and smoother rpm changes. Also one of our club members is upgrading to one of our E-Tecs so he has a 2001 225 EFI Merc for sale. This is the 3.0L with the torquemaster 1.75:1 gearcase.
I see that Hydrodyne is spoken at your club. Nice boats. If anyone wants to talk about modifying props for different purposes or how to modify throttle controls and engine throttle linkages for more precise control, I can start a new thread for that. It is up to y'all. I have made a hooby out of it. jim
If you are looking for seperate controls for a single that mount a little lower, I have heard a lot of good feed back on this one: http://www.incontrolequipment.com/products.asp?ProdID=15 jim
