I skied with it today but that's probably the last time for this transom. There's a scary amount of flex, and the splashwell is cracking. Anybody know someone qualified to replace it in central Florida?
I have heard that these guys are good, but I have no personal experience with them. http://www.allfiberglassrepairs.com/index.php jim
I should add that there are a couple of ways to do this at least. One is to remove the whole deck. If you are paying someone to do this it will be expensive. Tom Miller cuts the deck in front of the splashwell for access. This leaves the problem of how to make it look right. I would cut the deck, but there are several on this forum that disagree with me. jim
Actually, that is not such a problem on this boat. The deck was cut the last time, and the checkerboard pattern didn't look right. There was as a small section that was smooth where the cut was. But when I had the whole boat stripped and gelled, the guy said he could never get that checkerboard right. So he ground the whole thing smooth. It looks fine that way and doesn't bother me. So cutting is not that big a deal. Wish I had time to do it myself, but that just isn't in the cards. And Punta Gorda is 128 miles away. Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm hoping to find someone a little closer.
