I found this beauty roadside. Any ideas on Year? It has the Chrysler 318 and Penta outdrive. Needs absolutely everything!

Any thoughts on the value? Is it worth grabbing for restoration? I've got too many projects now but if someone was interested I could grab it.

Not worth much in it's current state, but if you want the approximate year of it, shoot us a picture of the back end. If this guy is intested in parting it out, I could use a mirror like that for my 68 and the prop from the volvo outdrive if it's still there.

Here's the transom. Also thought the speedo was pretty unique.

    Hi Craig:

I hate to see a potential restorable hull end up in the landfill but this looks like a "leverite" boat to me (i.e. leave her right there and walk away). If you are looking for a project (potentially extreme project if a re-core is needed) then maybe $300 to $500 tops (your buying a trailer and you are doing him a favor to get rid of the hull). If this is a pre-1971 (non-raised floor), the seats may have been historically anchored into the end-grain balsa-core (structural strength) of the boat. If water intrusion has occurred with the anchoring of the seats, its a very labor intensive project to remove and re-core to establish the structural strength of the hull.

The Airguide speedo can be restored or you could come back with a resto-mod (car talk for not original but functional) and rebuild it but it will add up eithor way. My 75 Tournament skiers bubble top dash has the same Airguide speedo(s) and am fortunate that the original owner did not let them see the elements (pic below; one is original and the other came brand new and un-installed with the boat). These have not been produced for several years which makes them kinda cool if they work but the newer GPS directed speedos are really nice.

I (and a ski buddy) paid $1,100 for a 73 Tournament skier back in 2000 with a Chev Mercruiser I-6 258 CID that we brought back to very functional condition for ~1,000 to $1,500 (see pics below). She (the ski buddy) sold it to another ski buddy for his high school age kids to use (he is a Mastercraft Rep for the area and doesn't want them taking out the promo boats). I heard that he doesn't like tinkering with the carb to get it going and may move on if you are looking for a lesser "project." You can PM me if you are interested and I will provide his contact info.

IMHO, a good HD Tournament Skier project is one that can put on the water and use immediately (with a towel over the split seats if upolstry is bad) rather than a mound of stuff that takes up space in the extra garage stall for several summers. Summers too short up in the north and we get old too fast.

Again, my $0.02, if your heart is leading the decision and the wallet (or spouse) is not part of the equation AND you've got the time and determination, then go for it.

Cheers and remember to ask questions from the people here with lots of pictures if you decide youv'e got to have it

    Kevin-
