1960 hydrodyne 1600 floor restoration

    Mr.Norm,

    Was your new balsa 3/4" thick? And, how many square feet did it take you to complete the floor? Also, I looked up Nida-core and there are SO many different types of balsa. What specifically did you use? It doesn't look like you use any with the scrim backing. It looks like you used long piecies that you tapered to fit.

    I called Nida Core and they were of help. However, I'm not sure if I should use 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch rigid balsa (in strips) or the scored panels. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    What did you do about the wood up under the bow? I am kind of stuck when it comes to that? Are you going to put in a flat floor?

    Sorry it's been so long. Chad- It was not easy... It took a lot of care to get all the wood out from the bow, even more work to make the pieces gel them and fish them into place. I would not want to do this over again so it was a lot of time and care to make it work.
