Hoping someone out there knows where to find this part. I have a 1973 Hydrodyne skier with the Ford 302/Waukesha engine and a Volvo 270T outdrive. On top of the cooling heat exchangers are two nylon or PVC 90 degree elbows to connect to the cooling water hoses. The fittings have started to leak and I want to replace them rather than using more teflon tape and other goop to get them to seal. I ordered up what I thought was the right replacement parts from marinemanifold.com but the 1" barbed by 3/4" NPT male thread elbow didn't fit. Speciffically, the 3/4" NPT male thread was too big. I then went to the plumbing store to figure out the thread size. The existing fittings are smaller than 3/4" and bigger than 1/2", therefore I figure they must be 5/8" NPT. Now the problem, no one that I can find makes a 5/8" NPT thread fitting. Any help would be great!

    Thanks
    Erik

I do not believe there is a 5/8 npt. Are the threads tapered? If not, how many threads per inch and what is the diameter.

They could be metric. Is there a name on the heat exchanger?

Rather than fool with it, I think I would take it to a machine shop and have it drilled and tapped for 3/4 npt if there is enough material there.

Thanks Jim. I'll keep looking for a bit as I won't get to the boat until mid July (so sad). Chances are I'll get it tapped out to 3/4".

    Cheers
