I just bought a 1971 18' hydrodyne with a 165 mercruiser i/o. It is conditional on inspection. The boat looks extremely clean and the motor looks nearly new. The owner states the only issues is a problem shifting from forward to reverse. They always cut the engine and then it would shift. Does this sound common? Minor or major problem? Is there anything else I need to ask the mechanic to look at?
