    Hello everyone

For those of you who are following my endless Hydrodyne project, I am posting more pictures. The engine was mounted last weekend. Got 'er hung at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning with the help of a good friend who was willing to work late into the night so that we could get it done.

The transom top cap was cut and ground so that it fits exactly over the transom support plate. It was then polished and installed above the transom support plate so that the two meet up nicely. Marine sealant - 3M 5200 was used on all the holes and bolt shanks. Clear silicone was used on the support plates around each hole and along the transom edge cap.

Everything went fairly smoothly. Making the transom edge cap took more time than actually hanging the engine. Enjoy the photos... I enjoy sharing them.

Congratulations!!! Now it's really starting to look like a boat again! It won't be long until you're skipping across the water and yanking the handle out of your kids' hands Wink Everybody loves watching a dancing rope!!!! Well, except the kid sitting in the water watching the boat go away without them....

When I'm spotting, I like to go remove the rope from the pilon and hold it in my hands just to remind the kid that I can drop 'em in the drink any time I like... Evil or Very Mad

On a similar note, I am reinstating all pin all friday this year. We used to do a free ski day on fridays after work (any team member can come and ski any act they want). And on all pin all friday, everybody was put on pin. When the driver or spotter got bored, the skier got dumped. Encourages the skiers to do something exciting, or at least attempt something new to keep the driver and spotter entertained.

    MR BANO

HAVING SEEN YOUR RECENT PHOTOS, AND HAVING HAD THE PLEASURE TO "BURN TO MIDNIGHT OIL" MANY TIMES DURING BYGONE DAYS OF BOAT AND SNOWMOBILE RACING, I JUST WANNA POINT OUT ONE VERY IMPORTANT INGREDIENT TO A SUCCESSFUL PROJECT LATE AT NIGHT.....BUDWEISER.....(ON THE ENGINE STAND)....THE BOAT LOOKS GREAT

    Mark,

It looks great. We always pull on pin with a few exceptions. I noticed you have not mounted the speedo pickups yet. I would consider running everything off the motor pickup for a while and see how you like that. It would have less holes below the water line which is good. The boat pickups can get damaged in beaching and the pick up debris easier too.

    Thanks Dave!

I actually tried to remove the beer cans before taking the photos but I see that a can of Bud or two worked their way into some of the pictures....

The reason things take so long is because we spend 45 minutes sitting around drinking beer and discussing the next step for each 15 minutes we spend working. That is half the fun. Thankfully, my buddy was sober enough to point out the fact that I was about to hoist the engine off the stand without having extended the legs on the hoist. Of course, if I had dropped the engine on the floor I wouldn't have posted pictures of it. I might have posted a request for donations, though... $$$$ party

    Jim

My instructions for the Airguides assert that you have to use the pickups designed for the speedo and that you need the equalizer tubes. Is this not the case? Also, you and I talked about turning the Airguides off with a valve at higher speeds, at which point I'd need the pickup on the shaft for the remaining speedometer. I'll have to decide what to do...

Also - I noticed for the first time that my motor does not have the little rudder fin above the prop that you use to adjust for torque steer (I'm sure you probably know the correct word for it!). Should this have come with the motor? (i.e. - should I be asking the dealer to supply it without additional cost?). It seems odd that it wouldn't be on there...

    Best,

    Mark

    Boat Assembly Lubricant

A key ingredient in any project is assembly lubricant (for the assemblers, of course)!

I've noticed that a half gallon growler of summit IPA (filled from the large can in my basement) gets a lot of work done. Especially since it seems to attract willing participants for rigging activity. Couple that with a grill and beast of some sort, and you have the ultimate attractant for manual labor.

And Mark, I'm slightly concerned about your choice of macros.... I would assume someone who lives within a coupld hundred miles of Milwaukee would have a decent supply of a Miller product (High Life is preferred, but Miller Lite will do).
