    Kevin,

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go. Being a home builder I have accumulated many tools, and always enjoy buying good tools for the job.

Can you share a bunch of pictures from your boat? My boat must be similar, as i was told my boat is an 84.

    Hey Steve:

My boats were never re-painted so I have no info for prep or gelcoat. If the hull has the original gel with no previous sanding, they can be be brought back and resealed to a point of almost new if you are willing to put forth the effort. Try this link to the restoration pics on this site for my 1985 restoration pics. The wet sanding and sealing is a bitch but really the best in the end opposed to paint IHMO.

I agree with starting with 600 on the wet sanding. Key is to get out all of that oxidation first. I preferred to use a palm vibrating sander with a garden sprayer with soap and water. Then move up in grit. I personally prefer to use a variable speed buffer myself. The results should be awesome. If any of this scares you, you can always look up som videos on how to do this on YouTube.

Also, I am a KW dealer and can get you a boom, trick release, rope guard or whatever you need for your boat.

Thanks for the tips on making the hull new again, I'm liking the colors.

The boat looked awesome in the lake today , and she floats nicely!

Unfortunately my 1984 evinrude xp 150hp, runs pretty rough (although old gas could be the culprit). I forgot to buy a stabilizer after I filled the gas tank. There seemed to be about 1/6 of a full tank of gas.

Starting the boat wasn't an issue. I did 2 passes through the slalom course, and got it up to 25mph and then a high pitched alarm was sounding from somewhere near the throttle. It was really freaking me out, so a idled back to the trailer.

Does anyone know what that alarm could be?

I attached 2 pictures, hopefully it shows in the message.

The alarm is probably an overheating alarm, or a low oil alarm.

Look into a product call Aqua Buff. It comes in series 1000 or 2000. 1000 course and 2000 fine. View attachment 3786 Buffed out sides1.JPG

Dynebob1 boat looks perfect. I'll look into those products.

Dynegreg1 your probably right. I can see water spitting or from that engine, but not that strong of a stream.

I'll either have to figure out if and how the oil pumps, or just have to mix a 50:1

Next week I'll take it the boat to to my families Lake front property , and play around with it there.

Thanks for all the help and guidance. This site has been great. I won't stop until my Dyne is running and looking like it should!
