Supposedly the hydrodyne I'm getting was an old Tommy Bartlett's dyne. Don't know if they kept records of previous hull ids, wonder if there is any other way to know. I guess a call to Tom would answer that question.

It is being dropped off today and will start accessing the condition of transom and hull. I'm told all is good accept the transom. New floor and seats were put in a while back.

I know it will need a new engine next year, probably hang a 150 on it.

Let the fun or cussing begin. :)

Nice looking boat. Talk to Dynebob about transom repair. He is really happy with the last transom he had done.

I spoke to Bartlett's owner a few years ago. I do not know what records they have, but you could contact him. I believe Daniel also corresponded with him.

What is the problem with the engine? What year is the boat?

I would remove the whale tail and add a wedge. The whale tail puts rollers in the wake at low speeds.

Engine is pretty shot plus it is a Suzuki. I will do compression test on it to see where it stands. I know I need reverse linkage to use it right away. If I can use it for general kid usage for a year, I'll be happy, then in the winter I go into revamping.

Year of boat is a 71.

I'm not a whale tale person, so it will disappear. Speaking of wedge, I planned on asking about it. I have read here that it is recommended especially for the 18' footers. How much wedge?

I think my wedge is 5 degrees It is the common one readily available. The 71's are the early style and need to kept as dry as possible.

    Engine is a 115hp. I'm thinking a 150. Will be a next year thought.

First look was last night. I need to look at pictures of other 71s so I know what the floor looks like. There is carpet on this one, but it will need to be removed in some areas to let it breath.

The 71 should not have a raised flat floor originally. The floor is the hull.

The 71 that is sitting up in Iola had a factory installed flat floor with stringers and the front foot well.

Maybe my 1972 theory is wrong. I wonder what the core is.

Looking at Marc's rebuild, it has a raised floor. This dyne looks like the twin to it.

It had twin engines at one time, based on holes. The top outside holes where never capped. :( Pretty sure the transom bows out too.
