I have been searching and finally found it! 20 footer, all original and ready for the make over.
Its going to be used for river cruising and scuba diving in Crystal River Florida where I was born and raised. The boats name is officially " Cracker Barge"

This boat was anchored in fresh water and was hit hard on the starboard side, removed from the river and parked where it sat for 2 years, until today when my wife and I saved it from certain death!

Has the balsa core been compromised?

You can tap on it with a hammer to look for "dead" sounding spots indicating water in the core.

Hi and thanks for the fast reply! We are assuming the balsa was compromised but wont know for sure until we dig into it this weekend. We are committed to its restoration as its one of a kind here and perfect for us and the river. I am attaching pictures of the boat exactly as it sits right now, UN touched. ANY advice you can give us will be greatly appreciated and of course a free boat ride anytime you come up to the Crystal River area. Your reputation with these boats is impeccable and we feel honored you responded to out first post.

Where is Balsa located on flat tops? I picked up a 1969 flat top with a 160 I/O, so I am trying to read up on them as much as possible. Not going to be able to get into the boat until spring.

The hull is a balsa glass sandwich. The balsa is between the inner and out hull. there is a lot of information in the restoration section.
