This is the end result of 2 weeks of work. That was just mounting motors, replacing batteries (I have found that Opti's like good batteries)hooking up all the plugs, replacing all the lowerunits and reprograming all the engines and the smartcraft gauges.
Re: what do you do? Is that the first 900 HP Dyne? I take it that they came with sportsmasters? How much weight do you figure in the bow? What reprogramming is required? Interesting tow pylon set up. jim
Re: what do you do? They came with TorqueMasters and we put FleetMasters on them. We always try to use our own lower units. It makes the motors more saleable when we put the new lower units back on. We run about 1000lbs in the bow as counter weight on the triples. All standard rotation Opti's come from Mercury programed as starboard 1 for SmartCraft. When you use multiple engines with only 1 Data Cable each tach needs to know which engine it's suppose to monitor. So you have to rename the motors Starboard1,Starboard2 or Port1,Port2. Then you have to rename the tachs to match the motor that you want it to monitor. As for the pylon we have always used that type of pylon on the Dynes. It was before my time. 17years
Re: what do you do? I have seen your boats many times since then. I guess I never noticed the members that anchor in the deck. jim
Re: what do you do? The Rock Aqua Jays have ALWAYS had the nicest fleet of Dynes out of any ski team that I have seen perform, and that is a lot in my book. You guys always take excellent care of your hulls, and everything is always done top notch when it comes to your rigging, controls, etc. Ed I am sure Rocket would be proud to see those 300s on the back of that monster. He was a great guy, not to mention one of the best riple drivers ever. Greg
Thanks Greg for the kind words. Someone before I joined had the for-thought to purchase an unheated warehouse close to the river to store our boats and it has payed big dividends in keeping our equipment out of the weather. We don't have heat but we finally got water on the property. The city made us put it outside(city codes you know). Ron's wife had to come to the warehouse to see him during the summer. After practice we would sit up at the warehouse and drink beer and talk smart till midnight. Laughing Before he passed away he could only sleep for a couple hours at a time so guess where he would go at 3am,to wax the Dyne. I have no doubt he was smiling when we were breaking in the triple 300's Tuesday. Edd
Edd, Who made the rope guard for your boat that goes over the motors? I have to replace mine since I changed motors as it is now too low. Bob
Bob, We make our own. We buy 20' sections of SS pipe from a local manufacturer(ex-club member) and Tom Cullen/Tow 1 who is an electrician custom bends it for us. Then the end pieces and holding blocks we buy from Tom Miller. If you look at the triple pic you can see the block and ends. If I remember the singles have SS flat washers welded to the ends. Edd
Jim, Sorry I have not answered you before now. Somehow I missed your question. We started out with Rev 4's with a 17 pitch. Could pull about 38-40 skiers. Could have pulled more but the hit was pretty hard. Went back to the Mirage-Plus 3 with a 15 pitch blade w/cup. It's a easier hit on pyramids and still runs 48 on the gps with 4 barefoot pyramids. The driver says he still has a little throttle left. Edd
