hello team, it has been a cold wet winter here in BC CANADA so my rebuild was on hold. I rebuilt my 115 Johnson while the boat work stopped, now its back at it. When I started removing the transom it was a full two in thick with skins, my want now is to go to a thicker transom a full three inch for more strength for a more powerful motor, will be using a marine grade plywood that is what is readily available, thoughts on the idea would help me if you do not mind a comment, ty.

thicker is better/stronger. Dynaski boats have a 3" transom.
