A very good link Jim. To core or not to core - I have seen it both ways. The GW Invader I had as a kid had no core but did have stringers. The Baker (an 18' low profile typical California jet) that I converted to ouboard was the same way. My '06 Venom has a core only in the pad. The Venom is extremely light at 800 lbs because it is a racing hull and I really have to be careful and watchful because my lake has alot of floating debris and at 50mph I did punch a hole in my V-King. I do not know if the V-King was cored but it was not where I hit the debris. So the GW Invader and Baker (both 70's boats) had no core but yet the 70's Hydrodynes did. Perhaps Mr Crosby started something. As far as transomes go the idea of the core is very sound engineering and perhaps Crosby extrapolated that to the core on the hull. I think I need many more layers of glass on the inside of my transom.
