Volvo Penta 280T outdrive issues.

    1972 Hydrodyne, 302 i/o
    I have a 1972 Dyne I've been restoring with a 302 I/O and Volvo 280T outdrive. I put a new 302 in last summer and it runs great! However, the tilt/trim system is my next project. I don't even know where to begin. The main "piston/cylinder" that pushes the out drive up was shot, so I had it machined back to working order. It's the rest of the system that has me lost. I can get it to move but not very far. I know it can go higher than it does. It seems like they really overcomplicated the design. I need detailed schematics to see what parts I might be missing. Or maybe a stick of dynamite!

    I can't help with the Volvo. If you decide to go the stick of dynamite route, I have a suggestion. I converted my I/O to an outboard about 10 years ago and everything got better. It performs way better with a 150 outboard than with the 198 hp 305 chevy I/O.
