My dad posted a picture of our boat, so I thought I would return the favor. The top picture was taken in 1993. We lovingly referred to it as "The Refrigerator". Looks like I could use a make-over myself (nice slouch socks). <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" /> And the bottom picture was taken in 1999.
Very cool. I didn't think about this before but I guess you had to add the rope deflector, since you wouldn't have needed it with the I/O. Where does one get a new rope deflector? Mine is in bad shape and I don't think it is going to be tall enough to get over my new motor. I was going to have a metal fabricator build me one but if I can buy one somewhere maybe that's the way to go....
Daniel, I liked the aft deck on the I/O a lot, so I decided to convert. The biggest job was fabricating the splash well and the center portion of the aft deck. I had a professional do it and he built it from scratch. I had them take all of the cleats off because the tow rope tangles in them in a 360 sometimes. I also could not bring myself to sell that boat because of all the good times we have had with it. The I/O that I took out weighed 950 pounds. The faststrike weighs 370. Mark, My rope guard is very flimsy. I intended it to be temporary and it has been on there 9 years. Talk to greg, I think he has a source. It you have one built, you can get exactly what you want. I think I would go with 1 inch solid aluminum or close to that. I would mount it to the deck, not the transom like mine. jim
KW Show Ski Equipment in Casnovia Michigan. You can get them via Dyna-Ski. I'll see if I can snap a pic of the one on our team's single rig.
Yeah, KW is who made mine. He had it to me in a little more than a weeks time. Mine was stainless tubing, with aluminum mounting blocks. It was very strong, and not expensive either. I will post a photo later of the guard, and the mounts. Greg
Here are some photos of the KW rope guard mounts. You can adjust the height of the guard to match the cowling of your motor. Kw is the way to go. Greg
