I just got this boat last month. It has a 318 Chrysler and a Volvo Drive that is rebranded as Chrysler Marine. Does anyone know if this was an unusual setup? This boat really hauls the mail. Also the turning skag is damaged does anyone know of a sketch of the original,so I could fabricate A new one?

I believe the majority of the old skegs were bronze. They fit perfectly in the pocket in the keel (about 18" long?) and were around 6" high. A pretty basic fin shape. If you look around the site enough, you should be able to see a picture of one somewere. In fact, one of the pics on the main page is a 20'er doing a tail stand that shows a good portion of the fin. They are all the same fin.

New ones can also be purchased. I don't know what dyna-ski is currently using, but Tom Miller is making them out of fiberglass these days.

I have an old 18 foot dyne and it did not originally have a skag or fin. The person who had it before me had one custom made out of stainless steel. The thing weighs a ton. It is a pretty basic design. Nothing fancy and seems to work fine. I do have a wierd vibrating noise now that I have completely gutten and rebuilt the inside of the hull with composite. You should be able to find an aftermarket one without having to have something custom made, but if you know a good welder, and can look at one, it can be made.
