A complete restoration sounds like a good idea.

^put some 2x4s on edge to carry the loads. Three per side. I would have to shim them to the angle of the hull to make it right but I am really worried about putting a hook in the hull. If anyone knows of the angle that I need that would be great so I can set them close before I lift the bot that would be great.

That sounds like a good idea. But remember the boat is not flat bottom, it has some dead rise. The supporting boards will have to be shimmed up and angled in to conform to the bottom. And they need to be perfectly straight. A trailer would not be satisfactory in my view.

The transom should be supported too, to keep it straight.

Nick - it would probably be easier to remodel your trailer than to build a cart that when done will have no use. Try this: Put a couple of boards at the rear of the hull to support it at the rear only and then check for hooks. Maybe let it sit for a day and check it again. Bunks are far better than rollers for hull support on a trailer and a Hydrodyne with the fin really needs bunks.

Just read what Jim posted and I have to respectfully disagree. The transom will not deform if you put shims on the bottom of the hull to the trailer. If possible you should shim it in 4 places. The trailer in my experience is good enough to retain the hull shape if it has bunks. What you are looking for is a hook and my method will find it if present. Ideally when rebuilding a hull one would put it in the original mold but since none of us have access to that we have to improvise. When you strip out all the rotted wood you will be left with a weak fiberglass shell and the transom is now vulnerable but the 1st thing you will do is put a new one in to make sure that that part of the boat is flat. Then tie the transom into the sides and take it from there.

As far as suppliers go I am thinking of starting a new thread in the restoration section and posting all my suppliers but I want to contact the administrator 1st to see if he has any thoughts or a better idea.

Where I think it has a bow in it is actually where the drivers seat is. The back is actually really straight. I tried to get a picture of it but it didn't show up very well. I was also in error. It does have 4 bunks on it, the second two don't extend up as far as the first two. The problem with the trailer is that the front of the bunks do not have any hangers on them so I might try to put some brackets on the bunks and see if the bow will come out. Also this boat didn't have a fin on it. I'm thinking I'm going to put one on it because on our club boats if we loose a fin you can really tell in the handling.

On a more technical note. Would this boat have the two layers of core or just the one. I haven done anything on the demo yet but even if it did would I need to put it back that way or could I just go with a single thicker layer and how thick would that need to be?

Your boat is old and outdated by modern technology just as mine is. Get rid of all the wood down to the shell and then put a transom in. Then put a core in. I put a 3/4" Divinnycell core in but end grain balsa would be fine. Then put stringers in and then a floor (or sole if you want to be correct on the name).

I am not sure about the "bow" under the drivers seat. I don't understand what you are saying. Does the hull "bow" down like a blister?

Shipping hazardous materials is expensive. You can buy your MEK in 2oz bottles and pay thru the nose or buy a large quantity and eat the HasMat fees. I am on my second quart of MEK.

No. The hull is concaved . The last support for the bunks of the trailer is right there. There is still 3.5' of bunk in front of that that has nothing supporting it from the trailer so it's not suporting any of the weight of the boat. I will try and get a better picture of it tomorrow. My biggest fear undertaking this project is spending all this time on it and not having a boat that can reach barefoot speed due to the porpoising.

This has happened with improperly supported recores.
