I'm a little fuzzy on the Dyna-Ski story. When did Tom officialy start building the Dyna-Ski? Also, what's going on with the Dyna-Ski website - www.dyna-ski.com? Is that Tom's site? Who's using the name now?

I can't remember what year it was (2000-2001 maybe), but my friend Brian and I were at the show nationals in Rockford and there was a Dyna-Ski in the boat tent. We talked to a guy (it might have been Tom) and got his card. Brian had just bought his twin-rig and needed a pylon for it. We thought it was great that someone was still making boats from the original hulls.

Tom started building the Dyna Ski in 1995-6.

The Dyna-Ski web site is not Tom's. His boats are called "the Dyne" since about 05 or 06.

The "new" Dyna-Ski's I have seen were apperently built by:

    http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_detail.aspx?id=OQV

The Serial number starts with OQV on the boats I have seen, and it is stamped into the transom.

Tom's boats have a serial number that starts with FPD.

That was probably Tom that you talked to.

So are the new model Dyna-Ski boats using the original hull? After reading the site closely, it sounds like they're a new design.

Does Tom have the original molds? Who has the original 18' molds?

Sorry if I'm being a pest. I'm just really curious!

I don't know too much about the new Dyna-Ski. I believe they got a 17.6 and a 20 mold from Three Rivers (Hydrodyne) when they quit building outboards. It looks like they have modified it.

Tom has an original 20 mold also. It has gone through some mods I believe.

The 18 mold belongs to a third party. I believe Tom built a new deck mold and he uses the 18 mold to build 18's. The last time I checked it was at his shop.

My understanding is that Tom has the newly redesigned top deck portion of the 18', and the bottom portion Skip owns. Can anyone POSITIVELY shed light on this, Bev? Tom? Pete? Skip?

Skip (Riverside Composites) owns the hull mold for the 18 footer and he redesigned the deck mold with the rounded bulkhead area where the pylon goes. I saw the mold about 2 years ago at his place. I doubt he would ever part with it, but you never know.

So Must-ski-Motors does that mean Tom is using his mold since the new 18 top deck is identical on Tom's and Skip's boats? It makes since since they are not too far away from one another. My RUA says Skip built my boat, but talking to Tom at Rockford a couple of years ago he said he built my boat. This was when he was in good with Pete. I don't know what happened since.

Must-ski-motors are you POSITIVE about your info.? There are so many rumors going around, I just want to make sure.

What must-ski motors says is what I was told by PJP at Dyna-Ski.
