How things have changed over 32 years. Although the new boats are more versatile, nothing matches the performance and fun factor of the original 18'. Maybe the newer boats are just too "dry"?

Try letting someone else drive the boat and you just study the wake. I even hung off the back of the boat to get a really close look. There is quite a bit of difference in the wake of those two boats.

The 17.6 looks like it should have the better wake. But, in my opinion, it does not. Specially at the lower speeds. There is more turbulence in the 17.6 wake.

There is a difference in the relationship between the turbulence from the prop to the turbulence from the spray rails.

    Hi Jim.

You are 100% correct, the wake off the 18' Dyne is much more tame. The 17.6 Dyna-Ski is a heavier boat due in part to all the extra features including the higher side walls.

Talking about extras,, my wife wants a windshield put on the old Dyne. NOT!! I'll buy her a pair of motorcycle goggles before that happens.

    I don't care for a windshield either.
