Does anyone know anything about these? I can't find pix or information anywhere online. I was a competitive skiier in my youth and we owned 2 different late 70s dynes as I grew up. Partly out of nostalgia, I've just bought this boat and am having it transported to my home. It hasn't arrived yet so don't have any actual pictures of the throttle set-up. The seller told me it is a 19' barefoot boat with extended dash and that the center throttle was factory installed.
That looks like a modified or custom built boat. I am curious to know the actual centerline length and the beam. Very cool! jim
Guys, This is a really interesting boat. I just got an e-mail for the owner and the beam is 7 ft which is the same as a 20. It looks like a 20 with the transom and deck extensions removed and an 18 style low profile deck with a real pretty aft deck. This is the style boat that I talked abut building several years ago. This is the boat that I always hoped Hydrodyne would build and it looks like they built one. I have asked that he post more pictures and post the centerline length. jim
Just re-measured the boat & my eyes must have been crooked the first time. The beam is 6' and the length from nose to transom is 17'8". Not sure if this jives with what I was told when I purchased it as I was told it was a custom 19' barefoot boat. Any info or insight you have would be great. We've moved the throttle assembly from the center to the usual position but I think it will have to be replaced as there's a lot of play in it. I think we have a 5 year project on our hands. Just hope the motor holds out that long.
Well, that is an 18ft Dyne. As far as I know Hydrodyne did not build it in 1983. If you will give me the first three letters and the last two numbers in the number stamped into the transom or on the title we can establish who built it and when. I have never seen one with a deck like that. jim
Just checked the transon & can't find any numbers anywhere. Where specifically should I look? I don't have the title; coastguard let me register it with the bow number.
If it was built in the US after about 1972 it would have a number on the outside of the transom on the starboard (right) side. I heard that some of the molds went to Canada in the late 70's or 80's. I have never heard of a boat built there. You might check how the Canadian boats were identified. The boat is quite different. You could check with Tom Miller by phone too. jim
Your deck looks like it might be a modified I/O deck which is what mine is. Mine was originally an I/O. If we can trace down the I/O molds we would have a clue. jim
It is easy to install throttle return springs on a Merc to eliminate the play. All of the foot throttle motors have them. Us a long spring as light as possible so it does not fight you too much. jim
