I am new to the forums, hey everybody Smile

I'm wondering if any of you folks know the weight of an 18' 76 Dyne. Mine is an outboard, and I know my engine is ~500 lbs. Also, anyone have an approximation of the weight of a pretty standard trailer?

    Thanks in advance.

    700 lbs for the boat.

Trailer could be anywhere from 400-600 lbs unless it is a tandem with lots of steel.

What kind of engine do you have that weighs in at 500 lbs. ?

How does the boat handle with that kind of weight?

Just wondering, as that is what the new 3L Mercs tip the scales at, and there is some controversy on this site as that being too heavy on a 18 footer.

Any big block V6 old or new will be close to 500 or more. Given that there are quite a few 18's out there with twins, I don't think any single is too much except maybe a Verado. The 18's certainly run flatter with a small block and for personal use that is probably preferred, but for team use a big block (to me) is preferable. 5 seasons ski team in Cedar Rapids IA has run 18's for years, first with small block 200 merc EFI's, and now they've got 3L Johnrudes. I'll see if I can get Don to log in here and give his two cents worth.

Thanks for the replies guys. I just got a 2006 Tacoma with only 3500 lbs towing capacity, so I was worried that with my tools and boat I would be exceeding it. Sounds like I should be all good, since the boat, trailer, and engine are definitely under 1800 lbs.

My engine is a 2004 Merc 150, they weigh ~475. The boat handles just fine.

    Thanks again.
