How do you think a 90hp e-tec would do you training young skiiers? What would top speed be on an 18ft dyne? With gas going to be so high this summer (3-4$) wondering if I could go with a small motor? Thanks, Jason
Less HP doesn't always mean less gas consumption. I would think you would be better off with a bigger motor and running at partial throttle vs low hp at full throttle. Dwight
There are old posts on this topic, to do with lakes that have 90hp restrictions. If you wanted to go minimal power and maximum economy for skiing, an 115 E-TEC would be the way to go. Underpowering is not the road to economy. I would think a 115 would have sufficient torque to be economical for your use. But search will help or ask Jim
I drove an 18 with a 90 Honda on it in about 1997. I think it did about 37. An e-tec 90 would probably get about 40 and be plenty for training kids. If you propped it down for heavy adults it would have less top speed. My daughter's 17.6 has a Merc carb 75 on it and has plenty of power for your mission. jim
