    Fair enough!

Yes. I have been waterskiing. Last weekend I taught my oldest son, who is 8, how to waterski. And he's hooked. We'll be back up in Northern Wisconsin this coming week and we'll be skiing every day, albeit behind the family runabout, since my Dyne isn't finished yet.

    Now.... I've got this thread back on track! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

    Mark,

No hard feelings. Thanks for the clarification. And yes I do remember I did sell it, but the fact still remains that it was "my baby". I can always build another one. It only took me 3 weeks to turn an empty shell into a finished product. Obviously my needs have changed for a boat, I simply needed more room. Like I said before, I didn't need to sell it but if the offer was right then I would. Therefore I did. And I don't regret it one bit. From talking to the new owner, he has done a lot to improve the boat even further than it already was. I would love to see it when he has done all of his "christmas list" of things he wants to do. When I stated about the "bagging" comment, that is in regards to saying that my boat is not a "true" Hydrodyne. So tell me what is different about it besides the pylon area being arched compared to a step down? It was built off of the same mold as yours with that only exception. The only difference is that mine was new fiberglass, in which yours is virtually half new too. So my question to you is, do you consider yours a "true" Hydrodyne since half of your fiberglass is all new? Of course it is still a "true" Hydrodyne. If you asked 100 people that are showskiers what kind of boat mine was with the vinyl removed, all 100 people would say it is a Hydrodyne. Remember mine had all of the original parts off of a original 1973 18', including the trailer.

My comment had been intended to make the point that your boat was better than the original. The focus of my point was not related to "authenticity." If you take my comment in context, I think it is clear that what I was saying was that it is better than what was being built by Crosby and Miller. 2/3 of my email related to how awesome the boat is. Authenticity is not a big issue for me so I really didn't think about it that way. I apologize for any offense taken. None was intended. My brother is rebuilding an older, 1950's crosby and is staying true to original. That's not what I'm doing. I'm going with all modern components, just like you did. My boat will have an original hull and deck but the floor and transom are obviously new, as is most of the wood that supports the deck structures. In fact, the new USCG capacity plate that I had made for my boat lists me as the remanufacturer. This allows me to set the weight and HP limits myself, per the Coast Guard's backyard builder program. So - yes. You are right. My boat will be so rebuilt that it will not share more than the bare hull, deck and ski tower with the original. If I'd have known of your boat before I started rebuilding mine I'd have bought it. Period. In fact, if I had known that I could have had the same boat built from the mold, I'd have done that, too rather than going through what I've been through. You boat is the Gold Standard Hydrodyne, and I don't think I've ever intended to say anything contrary to that.

Sorry to have screwed up. I feel like I hurt a friend and that is not what I'm about.

    Best,

    Mark

Wow everyone must be at the nationals or something. Web-site traffic at Hydrodyners.com dropped off late friday and is only now starting to return.

Anyone who went should post some pictures of the ski shows.
