Anybody know where to look for pre 72 hull numbers? I am Doing the Fun DMV journey before restoring, Rick
I think 1972 and earlier are exempt for HID numbers if I remember right they didn't start using them in till 1973
That is true, but there are serial numbers on most of the older boats. I'll see if i can do search for that info. jim
I looked through Ab Crosby's posts and I did not find that info. Look on the inside of the hull in the rear. Some were taped over and painted I believe. jim
hmmm, thanks, I am looking to sand away soon maybe numbers will show up. I see the 60's were triple glassed hulls with balsa, and the seventies were single layer? with end grain balsa?. This boat has the turn fin though. I wonder if 69 was the first year of the fin on keel... Is it hard to tell the year from 69 to 71? I am curious. Thanks, this is pretty fun stuff.
If it has a flat floor (original) it is probably end grain. Flat floor with stringers was the design change. I thought that the end grain boats coincided with the beginning of the external HID numbers, but there are many "one off" Dynes. And quite a few exceptions. It is not a production boat. jim
