This year my ski club replaced the older 200 optis with 225 optis. Boy you should hear the drivers complain. :)

The biggest complaint, they don't seem to have the low end torque that the 200s did. I would like to see the torque curve for both but can't find it.

Using the the same prop, 4 blade 17 pitch. Almost wonder if the Optis XS would have more low end torque.

Are the new ones 3 star CARB engines?

Engines tend to gain a fair amount of power or loosen up as people say anywhere from 40 to 80 hours after first used.

Carb rating is 2 according to Mercury's website.

I assume they are mounted in the same hole on the transom as the 200s were?

    Correct.

The 200-250 engines are the same engine size and block. Mercury "just" uses different computer chips.

Drivers are so fickle. I prefer to drive the fun Malibu.:)

I guess you might have to have a dealer verify that the TPS and or mechanical throttle actuators are fully opening.(100%) This may seem fine when running wide open but the reality is you are usually on the rev limiters and not at max timing/throttle necessarily. Sometimes the only time a show ski outboard needs true WOT is on a big pull when you need everything the motor has.

I am not sure how Merc software works but I can check with the engine not running to be sure the TPS is 100% open via laptop on the E-Tecs.
