I recently acquired this Hydrodyne with titles issued from a bill of sale from a Ohio registration sticker. I believe the year on title (1972) is not correct just from looking online at other Hydrodynes. Also this boat has a Ford "intercepter" 260ci V8, and I can find no info online about this setup. I will try to post some pics, and any info about this boat would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get the correct title/year info before I pay to start the restoration process. Thanks in advance.
You have a 1959-66 hull that has been, as they like to term it in the boat biz, "repowered". Your title probably reflects the year of the engine. This hull likely originally came with the 85hp 4cyl Volvo-penta I/O. I would be really interested in hearing how it rides in the water at a speed that exceeds design allowances, and would advise extreme caution in a banking turn!

The Ford 260 was built for cars (US) from 1962-1964. It may have been available in the marine version a little later, but I doubt it because the 289 is a bored 260 and came out in 1963. It made the 260 obsolete. My guess is that the 260 is the original engine. If it was sold without a title in 1972 the State may have dated it that year. Some states do that I believe. There is an interceptor engine forum at Marine engine.com. They discuss mostly the older Y-block engines but they do cover the 221-260-289 interceptor engines also. They can no doubt answer your questions about the 260. The URL is: http://www.marineengine.com/boat-fo...rd-Interceptor-Marine-Engine-Forum&order=desc jim
