    I'm not sure about everyone eles but I think that having a stero in a boat just tops it off. It's nice play some tunes while your cruising the lake. Since my families Dyna-Ski doesnt have a stereo i've been bugging Dad every once and a while to put one in. Here is my question: could you put car speakers in a boat? Because I've been wondering if you could hide car speakers in the foot wells of the driver and passenger. I figure they wont get soaked with water there, but how will they stand up to being outside all the time?

    Contact Dynegreg1. He has a handle on the "stereos in a boat" thing. I've seen his work and it's great.

    I use car speakers in my Dyne. The are the Poly type. Marine speakers always have sounded a bit hollow to me. I have never had any issues with my set up in the last 4 years.

    Here are the stats on my set up;

    Pioneer Head unit (mounted on the cross member Under the bow in the center by the drivers feet)
    Pioneer 70x4 amp (Main Speakers, mounted under the bow, I have no gas tank up there so I have plenty of room. The Battery is up there also)
    SAS Bazooka 8" Bass tube
    4" Enclosed Speakers Upfront (Upgrading to 6.5 this year for more sound)
    4x6 Pioneer in the back (Also upgrading to a 6x9) I have custom boxes built that fit snug under the rail to keep them hidden.

    All of this is completely hidden except for the head unit (I wanted to keep the boat looking original while still having fun and sound.

    Daniel,
    Is your boat ever sitting outside uncovered? because sometimes our Dyna-Ski is left tied to the dock uncovered due to its contineous use, and late night and early morning uses. I ask this because im wondering how those car speakers would hold up if it rained without a cover on the boat, even though the speakers are under the foot well.

    My boat and a friend's dyne both have 6.5" Polk Audio DB651 speakers in them x4. We run a Sony 4 channel marine amp hooked directly to an iPod for volume control. The amp is switched on the dash. It is a great setup, sounds great and has plenty of volume. If you shop around you can get 4 speakers and the amp for around $350.
