Greetings, I'm looking to replace the rub rail surounding the bow of my 64 1700. I read on this site that Wefco 187-1 worked for some of the newer (newer than mine anyway) Dynes. I've sent numerous E-Mails to the Wefco site and don't get any response. Does any one know if you need to have a Letter Head (Business or tax #) to deal with them? Also if anyone has any new left overs a couple of inches or so that they could send me I would be greatly in your debt. I assume a new one is not cheap. Well worth the investment, but I would like to insure that I get the correct material. Please advise.

It should work for your boat.

If you go to the specs page on Wefco's website, you can find a drawing of the 187-1 or 187-0 die. (they are the same). Look at the measurement for the inside hight of the rub rail and then measure the height of the shoebox joint along the side of your boat. If they match - or are close - it will work.

Truth be known, the Wefco die was actually made for the older I/O Hydrodyne boats, and happens to work on the skiiers. So it should work. I think it is going to be around $250 for a new rubrail but I don't recall exactly what I paid for mine. 77 I/O Dyner on this site recently bought one and you could PM him and ask what he paid.

    Good luck

You should just be able call them, I live about 75 miles away and was able to pick it up from them. The 187 die is the same for all Hydrodyne boats at least that is what I have been told by people with the older Dyne Runabouts.

Wefco will sell to the general public and you don't have to have a Tax ID# to deal with them.
