Adding a bedroom and a bathroom to our formerly 3 bed 1 bath 95 yr old house on the lake. I have 3 daughters ya know! We also ended up gutting the kitchen. There used to be a chimney running up through the kitchen on the exterior wall that faces the lake so we only had one small window to see the lake. Now we have a large window in the kitchen to view the lake as well as the same size window in our new bedroom over looking the back yard and lake. My boating season ended Oct 7 and this project started Oct 13. Contractor did all the framing, I did all the tear out and I will pick back up with spraying the drywall texture next weekend after the tapers are done with the seams etc. After this the old place will be about 90% remodeled. Also there was no, none, zero, nada insulation upstairs so even though the house will be slightly bigger, it should be warmer and the heat bill may even be less. To do yet:
Texture walls, lay tile in new bathroom, lay wood floor in the new bedroom, trim (Wife's uncle is a trim carpenter) and paint.
Kitchen cabinets will be in around Dec 7 and I have to restore the wood floor that is underneath the vinyl in the kitchen.
When we bought the house we wanted to use nice trim that they would have used back in 1914 when they built the house so we had a sawmill near here rip us trim and casing similar to what was left in one room in the house. The rest had been replaced by cheap stuff and there was a ton of paneling in the house as well. We did the same thing this time and my mom and dad are helping out by staining and varnishing it all. Something like 90 pieces of trim/baseboard.
Here are some pics as of this morning:

Everyone must be doing what they do in the off season as the board appears to be kinda slow. In the winter I am a alpine racing coach for Brookfield East HS and also coach for Ausblick Ski Area's Wisconsin Junior Racing program. This translates to being on the snow 4 to 5 times a week from mid-December through mid-March (also have a "day job" as a Division Manager for an Engineering firm here in WI). Skiing has been a passion both in the summer and winter for me for 39 years and will keep it up til the body says no more.

    Cheers,

    Kevin-

    Well,,,
I am still keeping a close watch on the industrial parks in Addison, Illinois and what the various 1200+ businesses do to the environment. Many are really careful as to what goes back into the wild and then there are those who just don't care, that's where I get involved. I simply tell them "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help!". Then they know they're in deep doo doo. As this noble pursuit is noble, it didn't offer the fiscal freedom to go out and order a spankin' new TM 18 "The Dyne" with a couple of 150's on the back, so I found a very talented and capable repo man to work for in evening and weekend hours. I drive the transporters and sometimes get lucky and even get to pick up a voluntary repo myself here and there. It can be fun and it keeps me out of trouble.
