I have only seen one other boat that looks like that. The owner thinks it is an 83. Are you in Canada? If his is an 83, yours could well be an 85 and maybe made in Canada. Here is the discussion of the other boat: http://www.hydrodyners.com/forum/index.php?threads/1983-dyne-w-center-throttle.1174/ jim
Craig: You definitely have a Hydrodyne 18 but they were produced through 1978 approx. A handful made beyond 1978, but yours looks to be the pre-1978. Nice rig even if it predates. BTW, where are the pics taken? I'm assuming out of the country by the numbers on the boat. Kevin-
Yes I'm from canada I bought the boat as a bare hull with no engine or seats. After installing the engine it ran terrible anything over 35 mph would create a bow wake, I couldn't get the bow out of the water at all. I raise the engine, had a 250 lb friend sit behind the pylon. I couldn't get it out of the water the spray would start before the drivers seat. So I took the deck off and removed the floor and replaced the transom at the same time and added a fuel tank under the bow. It was deffently barrel rolling, the floor consisted of 3/4 inch plywood no one section was bigger then 3 ft x 3 ft. As you can see now the bow lifts fine and it's a 60 mph boat now if you want it to be. Yes she's a fine boat now
Welcome Capt.Craigw. And I thought WI was a short ski season (aka the Tundra). Was there false floor and stringers when you replaced or are you talking about replacing the Balsa-core which was the floor in the pre-1970 HD 18 hulls. I'm assuming the later. The answer will give some indication to the era of the hull. Get out of the water quick this time of year, Kevin-
Craig, Like I said originally....your boat is a late 60's to 1978 18 footer. Looks like a fabricated rope guard (nice) and an aftermarket removable pylon. If you are looking for a factory pylon for that boat, try Pete at Dyna-Ski. I know he did have a few he pulled out of old 18's over the years. Probably won't be cheap, or inexpensive to ship due to its size. Bob
Not sure about the floor if it was basa or plywood. It looked like plywood with carpet. The stringers were also replaced which didn't look much more then 2x4s. What was the false floor all about? The splash well is original the top of the rear deck is stamped nonskid from the factory .but I did put the upholstered cover cover to hide the battery and bilge pump.
