I have only seen pictures of one other boat with that rear deck and splash-well configuration and it is in Canada also. I posted a link to those pictures. I like it better than the Dynes with the lower splash-well. I have heard that some of the original molds went to Canada. I have always wondered if some boats were built in Canada. I can't find any more information on the subject and I forgot who told me about the Canada connection. I like your boat a lot. You did a great job on it. My opinion is that it could be an 85. The raised floor provides a surface to mount seats without intruding on the balsa core. Drilling holes in the core is asking for water intrusion and it happened to the early boats with out the raised plywood floor. jim
Still not sure about the raised floor I believe the floor was mounted right on the stringers. Yes I made the rope Guard copied from a master craft outboard. Wasn't all that happy after completed but oh well.
Craig. For the lower 48 USA, the 18 was built into 78-79 with maybe a couple special-order hulls later on, as in the "dyne-greg/dyne bob 18." Jim might have a good point if a 18 mold went to Canada, yours may be post 78-79, especially looking at the top deck completion of the transom area. I have to admit that the diagional bow stripes always captured an audience on these boats. The striping looks real nice on your boat and I hope that the links that were provided (by Jim) didn't confuse. They were provided to me from another web-site in 2000 when I did mine and I did not have a problem with the measurements. The season for water sports has all but ended in WI (unless you are doing the full suit or dry suit thing....don't care much for the blue feet or the convulsive shivering, do enough of that on the snow 5 nights a week) but will check in as time permits. Its time to winterize the boat, put the old car in storage, and get the alpine ski gear out and tuned up. Kevin-
Forgot to mention, now you need to get a nice big red "Canada" maple leaf and drop it dead center of the bow stripes!
Yes Bob; typo on my behalf. I think there was a earlier 1964 18 with aplywood foredeck out on the site as a prototype boat as well so the actual date where production began is a little uncertain. Thanks, Kevin-
