Finished rigging the new boat yesterday with twin 250s. The usual Sea Star steering, BRP dual binnacle with their new HE cables made by Teleflex. 3 I-Command digital gauges. 17 pitch Rebel 3 blades. Only had it in the water long enough to prime oil injection and take a quick run. Acceleration is brutal, no surprise there. I really like the I command gauges. In tach mode they show an analog pointer plus the digital rpm readout on the bottom. Same thing for the Speedo - you can select 0-40, 0-80 or 0-100 for the analog portion. Still need to add rope guard, trick release and weight in the bow.
If you take your hand off the throttles, do you get a whistling noise? We just put those controls on our twin, and need to find a good way of closing up the hole in the end of the handle to get rid of the whistle. Love the controls though. Nice and smooth. Haven't tried adjusting the friction control yet, but don't think I need to.
RiverRat - have not noticed it, that does not mean it is not there. These controls are far beyond the old ones.
Your instument bubble might block just enough wind to keep it quiet. Our triple driver drove our twin with the new throttles last night while I was rebuilding the steering cylinder on the triple. He called after his first pull and wanted a triple set of those throttles for his boat. Too bad.
Yamaha now offers a triple set of those style, so I suspect BRP may offer that at some point since the same company builds them. I suppose maybe there is a patent on them right now. The Yamaha unit retails north of $2k though. Ouch.
Must ski I just took another look at your photos. I've hidden my GPS puck under the fibreglass deck and it works perfectly. Of course you might also like to show off that you have a GPS speedo Greg
I had my puck laying on the floor in front of the drivers foot bulkhead, but it took water in somehow, and has been riding around in my truck, and sitting in my kitchen since last summer. I doubt my buddy warren-T is effective any more. But yes, it did work just fine underneath the deck for me as well.
Must ski, I'm really interested in the configuration of this boat. Twin 250's with 17 inch props - is it for speed? I thought from your previous posts you normally ran shorter props but maybe was tripples or maybe I'm not remembering properly. I'm interested as to why the 250's. Do you know if they produce more low down torque than 225's? Are the taller props and extra horsepower for footing? Any idea or expectations of how many skiers it will pull or how many footers? Most importantly I want one...
