I've got a question that has been bugging my for sometime now. I was wondering if it would be possible to convert a hydrodyne deck boat back into a "normal" hydrodyne? Also if you did do this would it be considered to be a new boat or old? Due to the fact that it might have an older hull but brand new deck.
Do you think there would be any difference between the "normal" hydrodyne and the deck boat converted? Also what eles do you think would need to be done to the deck boat to turn it into a "normal hydrodyne"?
The deck boats are quite large--long and wide. I have never even seen one, but I wold think a deck of your design and a floor. If the deck boat is an I/O, then you will need to modify the transom. I think it would be cheaper to buy an outboard unless you like the bigger hull. jim
I agree with Jim. Because of the size of the deck boat, I don't think it would handle well at all. They were meant to be a party type boat (similar to todays pontoon boats) and probably did it well. Do to the fact you'd have to fabricate the entire top deck from scratch, it would be quite a monumental task..... Bob
I never knew that the deck boat was a different hull design. I thought that is was just a regular hydrodyne, except that instead of a top deck there was a flat floor. If it was then you could just take the floor off and slap a top deck on and it would start looking like a "normal" hydrodyne. So to convert it would be way too much work. thanks for the info.
