I am looking for a source to purchase replacement cleats on my '72 Hydrodyne Tournament Skier. Can anyone help steer me in the right direction? Can you still purchase new replacement cleats? What about substitutes?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,

The cleats are pretty standard. I would think you could find some new ones to match. I removed mine about 10 years ago. If I still have them, they are yours. Where are you?

You don't know the manufacturer for the cleats, by any chance?

I found the box of stuff, but no cleats. A google search should bring up a ton of them.

I spent considerable time and effort and never found cleats that are identical to the ones used on these boats. I ended up using no cleats at all.

If you want cleats identical to the originals a place to start might be Tom Miller.... perhaps he knows who the original manufacturer was.

There are a lot of generic cleats out there, but I don't think the screw holes will line up. I bought some standard cleats but the holes didn't line up. I later filled the holes before the boat was painted and never used the cleats.

If you are putting cleats back on an 18', I recommend going with the retractable cleats. Much safer on the feet, and looks a heckuva lot cleaner.
