It is winter. Let's face it. Things are slow. So, I will take some liberties and share stuff that probably nobody cares about! Smile Here's a picture of my the guy who taught me to waterski, and my four siblings, and probably about 1000 other people. He just turned 70 and has been waterskiing since he was 12. He continues to be an excellent slalom skiier and an excellent waterski instructor. He is still hard on me when I don't ski well, just like when I was a kid. He used to pull me, and my brothers, through the slalom course on our lake - endlessly. Now he doubles with various of his 17 grandchildren - all of whom waterski except the very youngest one, who should be up by this summer. He actually holds a PhD in political science - not waterskiiing - but he might as well have an honorary degree in waterskiiing. He learned to ski in Solon Springs, WI. Anyone know where that is? In the boat with my Dad is my youngest son, Ben, and his twin sister, Alexis. Can you tell I'm still a little kid when it comes to my honest belief that my dad is the greatest guy in the world? Best! You got it! Lake St. Croix. I've still got two relatives with summer homes on the lake and we enjoyed some waterfront fun there just last summer. My dad grew up in Duluth and learned to waterski on Lake St. Croix.
Great Story Mark...... You know I have been without my Dad for 27 years now, I was 23 when he died and I'm still a little kid when it comes to my honest belief that my dad was the greatest guy in the world TOO! Never had time on the water in my boat with him, he never knew his grandkids, he never got to teach them to fish.....oh, so many things. But yesterday I was watching this movie and at the end I started crying as the little girl was in her Daddy's arms as he danced with her. I remember dancing in my Daddy's arms, I remember dancing with him when I was older and he would get a smirk on his face as he told me "your not suppose to dance on my feet..." LOL! He may not have been great in some ways, but he was really great at being my Dad.
This is my favorite of my Dad.........I was 6 when this was taken and he had just finished building the playhouse in the background for me. The playhouse is sitting in my backyard today very much in need of rebuilding, but I have it. It is priceless cuz it was left at the house where he built and it is now mine again.
