So.... I assume many of us were using our boats over Memorial Day weekend. Maybe I can get some of you to share. I'll start. Here goes! Nothing special. Just a weekend with the Dyne up north... Enjoy! Markbano
Nice pics Mark! Looks like the boys had some fun. I was up in E.R. over the weekend also. Weather was perfect all weekend. Boat looks real good. Did you mount your stereo this past winter? Did you change your fenders on your trailer? They look like they are mounted really high from what I remember. New axle maybe? Greg
Hey Greg! Nope. Same old fenders. They are just high. I never got around to the stereo this winter. I'll hold out for next winter. Don't have my cup holder yet, either. That was my other goal. I did the lower unit oil change, trickled the battery, and reinstalled the rubrail with more and better screws and rubber cement. It is now on there much better than before. Other than that, the boat is unchanged from when I finished it. I have about 55 hours on it now. Couldn't have asked for better weather up north that weekend - that's for sure! Have you heard anything about whether the Bats' red twinrig has sold? I saw it on the trailer outside Ryden Marine as I was leaving Minocqua. I haven't seen the boat advertised anywhere but a friend of mine said he did. I was curious as to what they are asking for it.
Mark, Are those fender bolts in the correct mounting holes ? Looks like they are so high you could bump the hull into them when coming up on the trailer in a wind or strong current. You might want to take another look to see if they can be lowered, or you could just tell everyone it's a "motocross" trailer. Bob
They are welded on. There are no adjustments. It is a 1974 Eagle trailer. I don't know if the fenders are original or not. There are steps on either side of the fenders, and the fenders are welded to the steps. You have to be careful when taking the boat on and off the trailer so as to not hit the fenders. Not one of the better features of the trailer, to be sure. Also, the trailer is so heavy that it is hard to move around even with no boat on it.
looks like you might qualify for a drop axle on that trailer. I raised mine, the axle only cost me $90. It might make it easier to put in the water. Daniel
Not sure how that works but I can't lower my trailer at all or my engine will hit the ground when it it trimmed down. It is close now.
Mark, If your motor is still mounted all the way down, you could raise it and help both the porpoising and the clearance problem. It would also decrease the banking in the turns and pitch up. jim
I raised my motor one level when I installed the wedge a year ago. I really don't have any porpoising anymore unless I really go crazy with the trim. Really, the fenders don't bother me as much as they bother everyone else. I take the boat off the trailer when I use it and I usually drive back and forth from the lake in the dark.
They don't bother me either. I like the boat low because it will tow better and have less wind resistance. You could lower the fenders if you wish. jim
