Besides Jim, myself and others that can get out year round who has braved the cold water in the northern parts of the country? Lets see those pictures. As for our warm weather group lets see the most recent pictures! Daniel
I would be out if the river wasn't up about 6 feet and the trees weren't hauling a$$ downriver at about 6-8 mph! The lakes still have a little bit of ice on them as well.
I probably won't be out until May. I do need to get the boat out and clean out the remnants of the E-10 fuel and make sure the fuel lines are OK. E-10 may not be a problem in the colder climates, but it is a big problem down here in the heat and humidity. I found a place that sells gasoline with no ethanol in it. The procedure for buying it reminds me of the 50's. The pump is a very old style that only reads in gallons. You pump the fuel and go inside and tell the woman at the desk how many gallons you pumped. Then she writes a hand written receipt with the number of gallons times the price per gallon and gives you a carbon of the hand written receipt. I am probably the only member of this forum that remembers when it was done that way and there were no credit cards. You generally paid cash. Gas was only 22 cents per gallon for 100+ octane so there was not a lot of cash involved. Ain't progress great??? Edit: I wondered if my memory was right and it was not. Gas was about 27 cents a gallon and the octane was below 100. In the late 50's and sixties, it did not cost much more and the high octane was available. It was not until 1974 when the fed got involved that the prices sky-rocketed. jim
Well, I checked with some of my senior friends and they can remember 17 cents a gallon in the early 50's with 13 cents during some price wars. jim
Well I got out yesterday and took 2 laps around the lake twice,3 laps on the ski then one on the feet.I am on the Wi Il state line near Lake Michigan. water temp around 48 or 50 air temp was about 70 8) 8)
I finally made it out last sunday. I-command was telling me the river temp was 57. Maybe at the surface.
Been out numerous times testing team boats and making them ready for the first practice tonight. I can say this, the 300 E-Tec has brutal acceleration. 15 pitch Rebel prop on a 20 footer. We are doing well with 5 of 6 boats water ready, jump and dock are in. Just need one more motor to come in tomorrow and we'll be all done with boats by this weekend.
Single 300 Twin 115HO Twin 150HO Twin 250HO Triple 200HO 90 on the pickup boat I should have some pics starting tonight since practice starts. Just using the single and the twin 115s this week.
Ran the twin 250HO boat a couple times this week. Evinrude really has these 3.4L motors dialed in. The 300 is a fantastic show ski motor on our single rig. It pulls 6 couples off the dock no problem.
