Yes that is what I was thinking as pictured above except having the ski pole go thru the rear deck instead of in front of it. Thanks!

Are you planning some adult slalom?

If I recall correctly the ski show Dyne that I remember had the ski pole mounted in the middle of the cockpit. What are the pros and cons of mounting the pylon more forward than just forward of the splashwell? Obviously if it is just forward of the splashwell it will not get in the way; but Overtons sells one that is a quick detach so you could mount it in the middle of the cockpit and take it out when not using it. I have bumped my head many times on the original ski pole mount as pictured very early in this thread and want to avoid that. Also I have noticed that the new wakeboard boats have the tow rope mounted well forward and high - there must be a reason for that. I need to nail this down now if the answer requires a sturdy base like I did for the fin before the core goes in.

A "pylon" mounted/anchored more forward translates to less leverage for the skier to pull the back end of the boat around and the boat and driver is given more of an advantage which is a good thing (IMO), but the pendulm of the rope takes up a lot of interior real estate if you want to take out more than a spotter and a ballest person who sit up front (the rope has to go accross and will leave unwanted marks on the folks in the back).

If your posse wants to wake board, then a tower may be the way to go ....butt ugly IMO for a ski boat, or any boat for that matter. Some like them to get the skis and boards out of the boat too so each to his own I guess.

That aft mounted pole that you like will allow a slalom skier to pull the stern around with the stock fin.

The boat pictured with the rounded deck that dynegreg posted has two of the stock fins on it and he said it did well in slalom with single engine. That boat now belongs to dynebob and I am sure he would be happy to measure the location for you. That is the way I would go. If you plan on two motors, that will help too.

2mercs is an administrator here but has not posted much lately. His boat has the twin inline 6's and three fins. It has the stock fin and two of the dagger style fins like the inboards use added. One in front and one in the rear of the stock fin. He has said that the boat does well in slalom. I imagine the two motors help too.

Since you have the boat all apart you could do this mod.

The pylon in my boat is the inboard outboard version. There is a picture in this thread. It it quite a bit further forward that the outboard pylon which helps. I don't pull much slalom though.

Here is a picture of 2mercs boat. It has a pylon mounted a little further forward too.

This is probably the one that you bumped your head on.

If you are wanting a stock 18 pylon like what I showed I think I know someone who has one that they could sell.
