Mark, as long as the total weight isn't too much over 2000 lbs, you are welcome to use my fuel-efficient Saturn to move from home to Lake. I will see if anything we repo'ed is coming up for sale. Something nice that would be appropriate for your home and family that would be good at trailering a magnificent, fully restored Dyne. I am relieved to hear that your wonderful wife is safe from harm and ready for a summer of water sports. Tim
Thanks guys... The 'ol suburban is rolling again, albeit with no grill or lights and the mangled bumper has been re-attached on a temporary basis after having been removed from the front wheel, where it destroyed a brand new tire. I've got parts on order.... looking forward to the project of putting it back together, albeit without the brush guard, which was completely destroyed. I'm going to keep it for hauling "stuff" provided I can get it fixed to an acceptable level. The frame is bent a little in one area so we will be using some innovations dreamed up by my A&P neighbor to move it over a touch. The plan is to get a new vehicle - either another Suburban or an Escalade ESV - haven't decided yet. Either way, it will be able to pull the Dyne up north. Back to the balast issue - I assume that people remove the balast for trailering, right?
We do not take our bow balast out ever. It's a pain in the rear to get it in there way up in the bow, so it stays. You can adjust your trailer so the boat will sit just a touch further back if you want to re-balance after adding weight, but a bit of toungue weight is normally not a bad thing with a trailer.
Can someone explain to me more about the wedge!? I have a 1978 Hydrodyne 18' and i'm getting ready to hang a 2006 Mercury 225 Optimax. I just don't really understand how you can fit something underneith it. Thanks in advance.
