Ok I think that is enough of this

This web-site is an information source not an area to pedal boats, slam each other, drag each other through the mud. People have their own opinions I have heard a lot of different things about the boats from different people.

This is not a Dyna-Ski site, a Tom Miller boat site or RUA site. This is a Hydrodyne Site, so if things like this keep happening and upsetting people I will delete all likeness of the other boat companies and make it a Hydrodyne only Site.

And to say "I don't understand why anyone would want an older dyne 18" My friend this site is nothing but older Dyne 18s 65 people that think the Dyne 18 is the coolest Hydrodyne boat on the water. Slamming the mascot boat of this web-site will not get you anywhere with these people.

Horsepower at the prop changed in like 1981 at least for Mercury that is why they got rid of there 150 inline 6 it became the 115 and the 115 became the 90.

Daniel,
Thank you for sticking to your guns! I don't think the 18 and 17.6 can even be considered similar enough boats to say one is better than the other. They are both great boats and they both have their place. My personal preference stays with the 18, but I will not say anything bad about the other models or the people that make them. Each one of the people involved in the design, development, production, and purchase of any version of a "hydrodyne", "the dyne", "dyna-ski", or other similar product, should all be proud to be part of the legend.

I'm spending more to rebuild an 18' by a good bit than it would cost me to buy a new boat. There is indeed a reason for that.

Yeah,

I should clear up my statement so I don't look like I am dogging the other boats. The 18 is different, most out here in California don't even know it is a ski boat. It is true that the 20 is a better ski boat due to increase freeboard, larger interior better power handling capabilities etc... but the 18 is one hell of a ski boat also.

RiverRat made the 1000th post on the site, just thought I would throw that in there.

Thanks all for making the site what it is today.

As an owner of a 17.6, I have to say that it is a nice boat and it suits my needs just fine. However, this web site often has me wishing for an 18. I guess it is something like owning a classic car. Someday, when it is not totally impractical, I am going to own an MGB too. Ahhh, I can feel my hair getting tangled into an unmanageable mess as we speak.

If your MGB had twin motors, IT could PULL the Dyne!

You know, I was thinking it would make a great tow vehicle!

Have either of you ever worked on a MG? With only one motor you almost have to be a midget contortionist to get at things. I do not even want to think of an MG with two motors.

One motor in the boot, and the one under the bonnet, both driving all four wheels to help it get up a slippery boat ramp, or to get the boat in and out without a ramp. (beach, or slight hill) Try to visualize that one! Worse yet, try to synchronize all of that mechanisation, and still have a fun little "sports car" when the project is finished. IT could PULLL a Triple Hydrodyne, right from one gas station to the next.
