For those of you who have hydraulic steering in your 18's, how long are your hoses for it. I'm trying to order mine today and the boat is in a warehouse about 45 mins from my house and I really wasn't planning on going over there today. I don't really want anyone to go out and measure theres but if you know off hand that would be fantastic. Thanks a bunch!

Mine are 15.5 and 16' long, My steering is a center mounted tube between the 2 motors so it should be the same length as what you are running.

I don't recall how long mine are but I know I measured and then bought them too short because it was a very tight fit. Measure on the long side. I think mine might have been 14 or 15 ft. I can check tonight and let you know if you'd like.

I believe I went with 16 ft on the hoses on mine.

Thanks Guys... Does it matter if they are a little on the long side? I was thinking of ordering the 16' so I don't have to worry about it. I don't want to make a $1,000.00 dollar mistake!

Have you considered the 2.4 cu in helm. It speeds up the steering to about 3.5 turns lock to lock. Check with RiverRat, he has it.

There is a seller on ebay that can put any combination together for you and his prices look pretty good to me.

    Oops,

I edited while you were typing. the standard Seastar has a helm that pumps 1.7 cubic inches of fluid per rotation. There is a helm that pumps 2.4 which speeds up the steering like I said. RiverRat has one.

I think you can beat Overton prices, also check with RiverRat.

The only problem I have found with cheaper hydraulic steering is that it doesn't come with hoses. I really just want to buy it and get it over with. With the 10% discount, I should get it for around 900.00 Overtons website doesn't say which model they are offering. I will have to call them tomorrow.

I am talking about Seastar and 900 seems high to me.

The 1.7 and the 2.4 helm are both seastar. 1.7 is the standard that comes in the kits. It will have about 5 turns lock to lock which is too slow for me. My cable is just a hair over 3 turns lock to lock.
