It worked, and I am surprised at how reasonable the system is. I think I would still want some analog water pressure and temp gauges totally separate from the system.

I see how you could rig an alarm for temp but not for water pressure since it is so different at different rpm's. but that's just me.

Are you planning to display GPS, paddle wheel, and Airguide speed all at the same time with the three instruments?

From what I am reading in the catalogs at the store, they are skipping out on the consolidator hub that I believe is necessary, and about $100. They also do not include any speed pickup device (GPS antenna or paddlewheel), and some of the other add-ons that let you use more of the functions of the gauges. The setup I have so far comes up to just over $1700, and I could have easily added on more options and displays, but could also get by with less.

I will have the airguide for one speed, then I will have the two 3" displays set up with different "pages" for different info displays. You can select speed over water (paddlewheel) or speed over land (gps) if you have both the paddlewheel and gps antenna. So I could theoretically have it set up with 3 speedometers (airguide and 2 I-commands) all with analog style pointers, or go digital and get two different speeds, tach, and some other info all displayed on one gauge. It sounds like they are very versatile in how you want to set up a "page" and can store about 15 pages and scroll through the different pages you set up with a single push of a button on the front of the gauge. And then I think the 2" will primarily be a trim gauge, but probably have a few different pages set up for that as well. It's going to be interesting getting them all set up since not many people have any experience with them.

On a side note, all of the items so far for the I-commands are packaged in Lowrance boxes, not BRP. I thought that was interesting.

I guess I can talk about it now. One of my neighbors owns a marine supply business and does business with Mercury. He owns an ordinary looking Barefoot Nautique that had the full prototype smartcraft system before it was released to the public along with the latest big block engine. It had the full digital throttle and shift stuff in it and all the bells and whistles including an aftermarket doppler radar speedometer system. I think he was helping with the developmental testing.

I helped him set some of the engine stuff up. At that time I did not know it existed and it was a while before it was introduced to the outboards. The digital data bus system is fascinating in it's simplicity. The Boeing 777 had that sort of system for the systems and controls.

I will probably never own one, but most of you probably will.

Right now, I'm using the schwartz. As soon as my 2.4 cu in. helm arrives, it will be hydraulic. I have the cylinder mounted to the motor and hoses hooked to that, but that's as far as I could go with that.

Your Dyne looks great. I can smell the fiberglass trying to fight a losing battle from the holesaw. Very Happy Here is something that I started using to help clean up the electrical on our boats and maybe you already use it. If you look close just below the spreader bar you will see a terminal block. I have one under the dash and a third under the splashwell along the starboard side as well. Mercury sells them in SS/10 terminal. When I don't need that many connections I just cut it in half and drill out the rivets.

I haven't gotten quite that far yet, but am getting close. I like the idea. I'm trying to figure out in my head how that will all work with a switch panel and everything. Good thing my brother in law is an electrical technician. I'm counting on him for a lot of that stuff, so it doesn't look like I did it (nice way of saying so it doesn't look like a rats nest).

What all do you have hooked up to the seperate terminal blocks? I would assume you have the bilge and stern light at the rear one. Bow light, gauge lights at the front. What's on the starboard side? What else on the others?
